Living the dream

A highland existence interspersed with regular travels and running a charity in Nepal

Leavenworth Building 1st Feb 2011

Took Sally to see the building we had erected by Otis at our land in Leavenworth.
Was the first time she had seen it. I was there a few weeks previously to check on it.

This time the snow was not powder so it was easier to get to and walk around the area.
Plan is to move the trailer there this summer and at some stage build a cabin under one half of it.
Will be great when we are in a position to spend vacations there in winter. :-)

Steven's Pass Skiing 1st Feb 2011

Sally, Larry and I spent the 1st of February at Steven's Pass ski area. This is a famous pass across the Cascades on Highway 2, linking Leavenworth with the west coast and Seattle.

The rail line passes through here and has had many epics through the years with avalanches.

Day was bluebird and very cold. Above, Sally is skiing on the divide between the front side and back bowl.

Looking south into the heart of the Chiwaukum Mountains and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Our land at Leavenworth lies on the far side of these mountains.

Snowbasin Utah, Skiing 28 & 29 January 2011

Sally and I headed to Snowbasin, possibly our favourite ski field in North America. This is where the Salt Lake City Olympics celebrated the Olympic men's and women's downhill events. The facilities are second to none, the mountain an exquisite place and the skiing amazing.

Lunch in the mountain lodge.

The incredible view west across the Great Salt Lake from Mount Ogden
