Mike Savory managed to get a post Memorial Day permit to run the Rogue in Oregon.
We went as a six with Tim Cox rafting and Mike, Trevor, Sander, myself and Larry in kayaks.
We took sleeping bags etc in the kayaks to keep the raft load down.
Soon after put in you arrive at Class 5 Rainey Falls, a powerful drop, which has a fishladder grade 3 on extreme right side that rafts can run down. A few paddlers have a go at the drop which looks highly retentive if you get it wrong!! Above, the team deliberates!
Chris cuts over the wave to get on the main tongue
.....drives through the vee hole and...........
..........blasts through the boils vertically. Actually a really solid way to keep hooked into the swirling jet and not get sucked into the bad recirculating eddies!!
